Engagement in Azores: A Dreamy Adventure Begins
Have you ever dreamed of visiting a magical island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean? Well, that’s exactly what Y. and O. did for their engagement photoshoot.
Special thanks to Bruno from Ninho Films for this amazing drone shot.
The Journey Begins: Black Sand Beach
The couple flew all the way from Canada to Azores, a group of nine volcanic islands that belong to Portugal. We chose to stay on São Miguel, the largest and most diverse island. It has everything from lush green forests to hot springs to breathtaking views of the ocean.
Our first destination was a black sand beach called Praia de Santa Bárbara. It was a sunny morning and the contrast between the dark sand and the blue water was stunning. Y. and O. choose to wear linen suit and white dress which complemented very well the scenery.
Engagement in Azores - The Surprise
After the beach, we drove to our next location: a high place called Miradouro da Boca do Inferno. It’s a viewpoint that overlooks two lagoons: Lagoa do Canário and Lagoa das Sete Cidades. The lagoons have different colors: one is green and the other is blue. They are separated by a narrow bridge that connects two mountains.
To get there, we had to do some hiking as cars were not allowed. It was totally worth it though. The view was breathtaking. As we started our way up, there was a bit of fog that soon cleared up and the sun reappeared. It was like a scene from a fairy tale.
We took some photos on the bridge and then moved to a spot where we could see both lagoons. And then it happened. As I was taking some shots, Y. got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. He asked O. to marry him. She was speechless. She couldn’t help but cry and hugged him immediately. It was absolutely beautiful.
The Final Touch: A Rocky Spot with Strong Sea and Wind
They changed their outfits to match the vibe: he wore a black shirt and she wore a black dress. They looked so elegant and classy.
We headed to our final destination: a rocky spot called Ponta da Ferraria. It’s a place where you can see the power of nature: the sea is rough and the wind is strong. There are also natural pools where you can swim in warm water heated by volcanic activity.
We arrived there in the late afternoon and the weather was changing. The sky was cloudy and the light was moody. It added a dramatic touch to our photos. On the rocks, feeling the wind, embracing it, hearing the strong sound of the waves brushing through the rocks. They were still glowing from their engagement.
The End of an Unforgettable Adventure
We had just witnessed one of the most romantic proposals ever in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Hearts full, If you are looking for an adventurous and dreamy destination for your engagement or wedding photoshoot, I highly recommend Azores. It’s a place that will leave you speechless and make you fall in love even more.
