Visiting Azores
Pico Mountain is the highest point in all of Portugal. Standing high from its 2,351 meters of altitude, is the highest peak in Portugal and the third highest in the Atlantic Ocean.
The beginning point for all climbers is Casa da Montanha, which is located at a height of 1200 meters. You will have to ascend 1,120 meters from here. For safety reasons, a GPS is provided to you, and it tracks your whereabouts every minute. About a third of climbers fail to reach the summit of Mount Pico because it might be surprisingly challenging to ascend. Although it’s not necessary to be in top physical condition to hike Pico, the difference will be noticeable if you aren’t.
